What We Call The News

March 29th, 2007 by Michael Kwan

As much as it is important to keep track of the world of politics and social issues, news programs on television know that these issues don’t bring in the same level of viewership as the latest celebrity scandal or the latest stupid goof by Dubya caught on tape. I saw this clip on Leno last night and it motivated me to find on the original on jibjab.com. Check it out: it’s hilarious (and insightful).

Do you think that if there was a publicly funded news program that did not have a biased view of any sort and did not care about income/viewership, would people watch it?

I mean, is it the news stations fault for covering crap, or is it the viewers fault for not watching anything but crap?

      • Michael Kwan says:

It’s the latter. The TV stations have ratings and viewership to worry about, so they will always serve up whatever receives the most viewership. The video isn’t so much a commentary on what’s gone wrong with news programs; it’s what’s gone wrong with the general public.

lol…thats was so funny yet very interesting…the news is getting repetitive. Sometimes the news is reporting the same thing over and over again..getting boring…
